Basic stats

Habitat

Thicker forest than most similar flycatchers

Range

Himalayas and much of the Indian subcontinent, east to Bangladesh and Myanmar

The blue-throated blue flycatcher is a small flycatcher like Tickell's blue flycatcher, but easily told by the blue throat of the adult male, who also has an orange breast and a well-defined white belly and flanks. Females have an olive head and upperparts, a poorly defined creamy-orange chest and a white belly (Wikipedia, general species account).

It lives in thicker forest than other similar flycatchers and is found through the Himalayas and across much of the Indian subcontinent, extending east into Bangladesh and Myanmar. The cached species account gives little on its behaviour or breeding. SoIB 2023 lists it as a migrant within India with a moderate range, finds its current trend stable, and rates it a Low conservation priority (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
