The Chinese goral, or grey long-tailed goral, is a small goat-like ungulate, intermediate between an antelope and a goat, standing 50–78 cm at the shoulder and 82–130 cm long. The horns are short and conical and the ears fairly long and pointed. The coat has a short, dense under layer and longer, coarse guard hairs, coloured pale grey to dark or reddish brown, with a dark stripe along the back and pale throat and underparts (Wikipedia, general species account).
It lives in mountainous regions from north-eastern India and Myanmar through north-western Thailand and northern Vietnam to most of China. It lives in small groups of up to twelve, though older males are usually solitary. One or two kids are born in late spring after about 215 days, can walk soon after birth, and are weaned in the autumn. It is overhunted in some parts of its range (Wikipedia, general species account).
