The common dotted garden skink, also called the common snake skink or spotted supple skink, is found in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Young skinks have a distinctive red tail that is lost in adults, replaced by small spots that join into continuous lines as the animal ages. Spots are present on the head and run to the snout, and the animal is brown above and on the sides (Wikipedia, general species account).

In the young the spots join into four or six lengthwise lines down the back, and a yellowish stripe beginning on the edge of the snout is strongly marked. The lower surfaces are yellowish-white, uniform or with a black dot on each scale. The Reptile Database lists it from West Bengal through most of India.
