Small flying insects
Habitat
Caves, mines and sometimes tree holes; dark, warm, moist places
Range
India and Sri Lanka to the Philippines, New Guinea and northern Australia
The dusky leaf-nosed bat is a very small leaf-nosed bat with large round eyes, soft long fur and a simple, square nose-leaf. Colour runs from grey-brown to grey, sometimes tinged orange. Its range extends from India and Sri Lanka to the Philippines, New Guinea and northern Australia. Animals from India share a karyotype of 2n=32 with those from the Philippines (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is nocturnal, flies slowly but manoeuvres well, and eats small flying insects. It roosts in caves, mines and sometimes tree holes, preferring dark, warm, moist places. In northern Australia mating is in April and young are born from October to December; breeding in India is not described in the cached account, so that timing should not be assumed to apply here (Wikipedia, general species account).
