The Daurian or purple-backed starling is a small starling told from other starlings by its dark mantle and crown and narrow wing bars. It was moved from Sturnus to the revived genus Agropsar after two studies in 2008. The cached species account gives little other description (Wikipedia, general species account).

It breeds in the eastern Palearctic, from eastern Mongolia and south-eastern Russia to North Korea and central China. SoIB 2023 lists it as a winter migrant in India but gives no trend or priority (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
