Cyrtodactylus speciosus
Habitat
Thick leaf litter, pebbles and debris on the forest floor
Range
Hills of South India: around Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode, Tamil Nadu
The forest spotted gecko, or Erode ground gecko, is endemic to the hills of South India, in parts of the Eastern and Western Ghats. It was once thought to be the same as the Kollegal bent-toed gecko, but recent studies confirm they are distinct. It has been sighted in the hills around Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is nocturnal, becoming active after dusk, and lives on the ground among thick leaf litter, pebbles and debris on the forest floor. It reproduces by laying eggs.
