Size

Ichthyophis tricolor, the three-coloured caecilian or Maddatorai caecilian, is endemic to the Western Ghats. Its taxonomic status is unclear, including its relationship with Ichthyophis beddomei and the possibility of cryptic species. Adults measure 226-330 mm in total length, including a tail of 3-6 mm (Wikipedia, general species account).

The body is violet-brown with a yellow lateral stripe from the lips to the tail tip, slightly wider and unbroken at the neck, and a broad white stripe along the underside. The snout projects slightly, the eyes are distinct, and the tentacles sit closer to the eye at the edge of the upper lip (Wikipedia, general species account).
