The laggar falcon is a mid-sized bird of prey of the Indian subcontinent, occurring from south-eastern Iran and south-eastern Afghanistan through Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh to north-western Myanmar. Adults are dark overall and have blackish feathers on the tibia. It used to be one of the most common falcons in the region, but numbers have declined so that it is probably nowhere common now (Wikipedia, general species account).
The cached account is short: it notes only that the group of hierofalcons it belongs to has evidence of rampant hybridisation and incomplete lineage sorting, and it gives no measurements, diet or breeding information. SoIB 2023 rates it a Moderate conservation priority, a resident of grassland with a Moderate range and a rapid current decline of about 6% a year (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
