Basic stats

Habitat

Eastern Himalayan mountain forest, 1,400–2,630m

Range

Eastern Himalayas from Bhutan to northern Myanmar, and north-west Yunnan

Soriculus minor, the lesser large-clawed shrew, was described by Dobson in 1890 and was long treated as a subspecies of the large-clawed shrew, Soriculus nigrescens. A 2023 proposal treats it as a distinct species, and its status is still being assessed (Wikipedia, genus account).

The account gives its range as the eastern Himalayas, from Bhutan to northern Myanmar and into north-west Yunnan, at about 1,400 to 2,630 m. It does not name India, so its Indian occurrence should be checked. Nothing is given on diet, size or breeding (Wikipedia, genus account).
