Range

Caucasus (lorenzii) and Tian Shan (sindianus)

The mountain, or eastern, chiffchaff is a leaf warbler found in the Caucasus (lorenzii) and the Tian Shan (sindianus). It is an altitudinal migrant, moving to lower levels in winter. The nominate subspecies is like the Siberian chiffchaff, but with a finer, darker bill, browner upperparts and buff flanks; its song is almost identical to the common chiffchaff's, while the call is a weak psew. P. s. lorenzii is warmer and darker brown than the nominate race, and is sympatric with the common chiffchaff in a small area of the western Caucasus but interbreeds rarely, if ever (Wikipedia, general species account).

The cached account does not describe its occurrence in India, and it gives no diet or breeding information. SoIB 2023 lists it as a local migrant of non-specialised habitat that eats invertebrates, without a priority category (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
