Naumann's thrush is a member of the thrush family that breeds eastwards from central Siberia to North Manchuria, Amurland and Sakhalin, and is a rare vagrant to western Europe. It has a pale brown back and head, a white belly and undertail, a reddish-brown underwing and a pale eyebrow. It is closely related to the more northerly breeding dusky thrush, and the two have often been regarded as conspecific; the song may differ from the simple, fluted, redwing-like whistling of the dusky thrush (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is omnivorous and strongly migratory, wintering from South Asia to Southeast Asia, principally in China, Korea and neighbouring countries. It breeds in open woodland, nesting in trees with three to five eggs. SoIB 2023 lists it as a winter migrant of non-specialised habitat that eats invertebrates, without a priority category (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
