Western Ghats, India (endemic)

The Nilgiri long-tailed tree mouse, Vandeleuria nilagirica, is a small climbing rodent endemic to the Western Ghats of southern India. It was described by Jerdon in 1867, and there has been dispute over whether it is a distinct species or a subspecies of the Asiatic long-tailed climbing mouse, though current opinion treats it as a separate species (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is one of three species in the genus Vandeleuria, the long-tailed climbing mice, which also includes Nolthenius's long-tailed climbing mouse and the Asiatic long-tailed climbing mouse. The cached accounts give no measurements, diet or habitat detail for this species (Wikipedia, general species account).
