The plain flowerpecker is a tiny bird of the flowerpecker family, about 9 cm long, with no marked difference between males and females. It is found from the central Himalaya through western Indonesia to Taiwan, in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and like many flowerpeckers it favours mistletoe for foraging. The subspecies of north-eastern India, extending into Myanmar, Laos and southern China, called olivaceum by earlier authors, is treated by Pamela Rasmussen as a separate species, leaving the plain flowerpecker in the more restricted sense (Wikipedia, general species account).
The cached account gives no breeding information. SoIB 2023 rates it a Low conservation priority, a resident forest and plantation bird that eats fruit and nectar, with a Moderate range of about 130,000 km² and insufficient data on the long-term trend (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
