Range

Endemic to the Western Ghats

Size

3-3.5cm

Raorchestes nerostagona, the Kalpetta yellow bush frog or lichen bush frog, is endemic to the Western Ghats and has been observed between 900 and 1,200 metres above sea level. Its snout-vent length varies from about 3 to 3.5 cm, and its patchy, lichen-like pattern makes it cryptic among lichen and moss on tree trunks (Wikipedia, general species account).

It differs from others in its genus in having webbing between all the fingers and fully webbed toes. Its calls, made from high in the tree canopy, are a high-pitched pluck, like a raindrop falling into a bucket of water, repeated about every 3 to 4 seconds (Wikipedia, general species account).
