The sedge warbler is a medium-sized Old World warbler 11.5–13 cm long and about 12 g, with a brown, streaked back and wings and a distinct pale eyebrow. The rump is warm brown and unstreaked, the forehead flattened, the crown streaked black, the bill strong and pointed and the legs greyish; juveniles have dark spots on the breast. The oldest recorded bird, ringed in Finland, reached 10 years and 1 month, though the typical lifespan is 2 years (Wikipedia, general species account).
Sedge warblers are migratory, crossing the Sahara from their European and Asian breeding grounds to winter in Africa. The male's song is random chattering phrases and can include mimicry, and the female builds the nest in vegetation on the ground or up to 50 cm high. The cached account does not describe its Indian range. SoIB 2023 lists it as a bird of uncertain migratory status in non-specialised habitat, without a priority category (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
