The red-spotted diadem snake, or red-spotted royal snake, is a colubrid endemic to South Asia. It is cream-coloured or pale buff above with darker spots arranged in a staggered pattern, and grows to about 1 m in total length (Wikipedia, general species account).

Eggs are laid from May to July: a female above 250 grams can produce a clutch of 7 to 10. She buries the eggs at the laying site and no parental care is observed. Each egg weighs about 7 grams and takes about 60 days to hatch, and the babies are about 15 cm long and feed first on lizards or small rodents. In India it is found in Rajasthan.
