Basic stats

Range

Pakistan, India and Nepal; a broader span from Afghanistan to Myanmar and China in one compilation (type locality Murree, Pakistan)

Babu's pipistrelle, Alionoctula babu (formerly Pipistrellus babu), was historically treated as part of the Javan pipistrelle. A 2025 reassessment of Western Himalayan bats by Saikia and colleagues separated it, and Zhukova and colleagues moved it into Alionoctula. Its type locality is Murree in the Pir Panjal range of Pakistan (Mammal Diversity Database).

The Mammal Diversity Database lists it from Pakistan, India and Nepal; another compilation extends it from Afghanistan through northern India, Nepal and Bhutan to Myanmar and China. No source opened gives size, appearance or habitat detail (Mammal Diversity Database).
