Cetti's warbler is a small brown warbler of the family Cettiidae, 13–14 cm from bill to tail, the male weighing 15 g and the female 12 g. It has a rounded head with a narrow pale grey stripe arching over conspicuous black eyes and short, rounded wings, and is often difficult to see because of its skulking habits. It breeds in southern and western Europe, north-west Africa and the east Palearctic as far as Afghanistan and north-west Pakistan (Wikipedia, general species account).
It signals its presence with loud song, in bursts with a unique structure that helps birds avoid mating with other species. The young become independent by about 30 days, and the European population is estimated at 600,000–1,600,000 breeding pairs. The cached account does not describe its Indian range. SoIB 2023 lists it as a winter migrant of wetland that eats invertebrates, without a priority category (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
