Cyrtodactylus jeyporensis
Range
Eastern Ghats of Odisha; type locality Jeypore
Size
Head and body about 5cm
Cyrtodactylus jeyporensis was described from a single specimen in 1877 and rediscovered in 2010 in the Eastern Ghats of Odisha. The body is covered above with uniform, large, squarish or hexagonal flat scales arranged regularly like the bricks of a wall, and it has no enlarged preanal or femoral scales or pores. The snout-to-vent length is about 5 cm (Wikipedia, general species account).
A doctoral student at the Centre for Ecological Sciences in Bangalore, Ishan Aggarwal, set out in 2009 to rediscover this lost species to help piece together the evolutionary history of the genus. The Reptile Database lists Jeypore and the Patinghe Hills, Odisha.
