Dobson's Roundleaf Bat

Bats

Hipposideros brachyotus

Basic stats

Range

India and Bangladesh; type locality given only as 'Central India'

Dobson's roundleaf bat, Hipposideros brachyotus, was described from central India and was split from Cantor's roundleaf bat (H. galeritus) in a 2025 revision of the South Asian relatives of that species. The Mammal Diversity Database lists it from India and Bangladesh (Mammal Diversity Database; Zootaxa 2025).

Because the split is recent, older Indian records of H. galeritus may need re-checking before they can be attributed to this species. No source opened gives a state-by-state list, or size, habitat or diet detail (Mammal Diversity Database).
