The falcated duck is a gadwall-sized dabbling duck of the eastern Palearctic. Most of the male's plumage is finely vermiculated grey, with the long sickle-shaped tertials that give the species its name hanging off the back, a large dark green head with a white throat, a dark green collar and a bronzed crown. The vent is patterned in yellow, black and white, and the long grey bill helps identification. It is 46–53 cm long and 422–770 g (Wikipedia, general species account).
It breeds in eastern Russia, northern China, north-eastern Inner Mongolia and northern Japan, and winters south to India, where the account names Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and eastern Haryana. The clutch is six to ten eggs, generally laid in late May. SoIB 2023 treats it as a winter migrant of wetlands, rates it a Moderate conservation priority, and gives a Restricted range of about 17,000 km² (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
