The grey peacock-pheasant, or Burmese peacock-pheasant, is a large pheasant up to 76 cm long, greyish brown with finely spotted green eyespots, an elongated bushy crest, bare pink or yellow facial skin, a white throat, and a grey iris, bill and legs. The sexes are rather alike, but the female is smaller, darker and less ornamented. The young resemble the female (Wikipedia, general species account).
It lives in lowland and hill forests of Bangladesh, north-east India and Southeast Asia, but not most of Indochina or the Malay Peninsula. The diet is mainly seeds, termites, fruit and invertebrates, and the female usually lays two eggs. SoIB 2023 rates it a Moderate conservation priority, with a Restricted range of about 28,000 km² and insufficient data on trends (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
