Diet
Insects and berries, on the ground or less often in trees; possibly nectar from shingle tree (Acrocarpus fraxinifolius) flowers
Habitat
Subtropical or tropical moist montane forest in winter
Range
Breeds in the mountains of north-east China; winters in India and Indochina
The grey-sided thrush is a medium-sized, warm-brown thrush with a white eyebrow and a crescent below the eye. The male has rufescent-olive upperparts, including the crown and ear coverts, and grey underparts becoming paler on the belly and vent. It is migratory, breeding in the mountains of north-east China and migrating to subtropical or tropical moist montane forest in India and Indochina (Wikipedia, general species account).
It forages for insects and berries on the ground or less commonly in trees, often in the company of the eyebrowed thrush, and is also thought to feed on nectar from the flowers of the shingle tree. SoIB 2023 lists it as a winter migrant forest bird and omnivore, without a priority category (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
