Indosylvirana temporalis
Habitat
On or close to the ground near water
Clutch size
800-1,200 eggs
Indosylvirana temporalis is found abundantly on or close to the ground near water. The frogs are not shy and jump only when provoked. Some related Western Ghats species were formerly included in this species but were separated in a 2014 study. The head is depressed and triangular with a prominent, subacuminate snout, a white labial band and dark cross-bands on the limbs (Wikipedia, general species account).
After the south-west monsoon rains arrive, many frogs breed in temporary ponds and puddles. The eggs are slightly green and laid in clutches of 800 to 1,200. Larval life lasts 90-120 days, and metamorphs are at least 11-14 mm long. The breeding season is given as August to May, with males calling from 9 to 11 pm. Many snakes, including the vine snake, prey on it (Wikipedia, general species account).
