The source for this frog is the account of Minervarya charlesdarwini, Charles Darwin's frog, which is endemic to the Andaman Islands and known from South Andaman, Long Island and North Andaman. Males measure 25-29 mm and females 29-38 mm in snout-vent length. The snout is rounded with a blunt tip (Wikipedia, general species account).

The colour is variable, with three morphs; the first is dull olive brown with a bright orange butterfly-like mark on the back behind the occiput and a smaller spot of the same colour above the sacral region. In mating, the male clasps the female, who leaves the pool and turns around, then backs up and lays her eggs on the inner wall of a tree (Wikipedia, general species account).
