Range

Western Himalayas, from Uttarakhand east through Indian-administered Kashmir to Pakistan-administered Kashmir

The two-coloured wolf snake, also called the golden wolf snake or Mackinnon's wolf snake, is a colubrid snake native to the western Himalayas, ranging from Uttarakhand in India east to Pakistan. It was originally described from Mussoorie but was not found again at its type locality for over 112 years, until it was rediscovered in 2019 during survey work in Binog Wildlife Sanctuary, reported in 2021 (Wikipedia, general species account).

Mussoorie is a major tourist destination, so the snake may be threatened by traffic, pollution and tourism-related activity near the sanctuary, and a detailed status survey and further research are needed. The Reptile Database lists Uttar Pradesh for India.
