Nyctibatrachus kali
Habitat
Torrential streams and humid leaf litter in rainforest

Castle Rock, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka, India (Kali river catchment, type locality)
The Kali night frog, Nyctibatrachus kali, was found during field surveys in 2021 in the Castle Rock region of Uttara Kannada district, in the Kali river catchment of the central Western Ghats. It looks almost identical to the Kumbara night frog, but morphology, genetics and calls show it is a distinct lineage. (web summaries of the original description).
It lives in the torrential streams and humid leaf litter of the Castle Rock rainforest. The discovery was published in PeerJ. (web summaries of the original description).
