Schneider's toad, also called Schneider's dwarf toad (Duttaphrynus scaber), is a widespread and common toad of peninsular India and Sri Lanka up to about 300 m. It was formerly known partly as Ferguson's toad or Boulenger's burrowing toad, names that belonged to what is now a synonym, Bufo fergusonii, named after Harold S. Ferguson (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is a terrestrial toad found in wet evergreen forest, dry forest, scrub, grassland, coastal marsh and farmland. Adults are generally found under ground cover, except in the breeding season when they go to grassland near water, and the tadpoles develop in stagnant water (Wikipedia, general species account).
