The Sri Lanka green pigeon, also called the Pompadour or Ceylon green pigeon, is a pigeon of the genus Treron found in the forests of Sri Lanka, where it and other green pigeons are known as bata goya in Sinhala. Many authorities split it from the pompadour green pigeon complex. It was formally described in 1789 by Johann Friedrich Gmelin as Columba pompadora, and the specific epithet honours Madame de Pompadour, a mistress of Louis XV of France. The species is monotypic (Wikipedia, general species account).
It usually occurs singly or in small groups, with the fast, direct flight of pigeons, and eats the seeds and fruits of a wide variety of plants. It builds a stick nest in a tree and lays two white eggs. The cached account places it in Sri Lanka only and does not describe any occurrence in India, and the species is not in SoIB 2023, so its place on the Indian list should be checked (Wikipedia, general species account).
