The Tibetan serin, or Tibetan siskin, is a true finch about 12 cm long including the tail, found in Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar and Nepal. It lacks yellow panels on its wings in all plumages; adult males have olive-greenish upperparts, yellow underparts, yellowish-green rumps and a yellow eyebrow and border behind the ear coverts, and the wing and tail feathers are broadly differentiated by a yellowish-green colour (Wikipedia, general species account).
Tibetan serins generally breed in mixed forest and spend the winter in alder, in the central and eastern Himalaya. A group of birders from West Bengal discovered its presence at Hee village near the Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary in Sikkim in March 2013. SoIB 2023 rates it a Moderate conservation priority, a winter migrant forest bird that eats plants and seeds, with a Restricted range of about 10,500 km² and insufficient data on trends (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
