Vigors's sunbird, also called the Sahyadri or western crimson sunbird, is endemic to the Western Ghats of India. It has been considered a subspecies of the crimson sunbird, but the central tail is not elongated and its distribution is restricted. The male has a scarlet throat and breast with the rest of the underparts uniformly grey, grey-brown wings lacking yellowish-olive edges, a yellow lower back and a bottle-green tail. The female's upperparts are dark olive and her underparts grey, and an immature male is similar to the female but with a dull scarlet throat and breast (Wikipedia, general species account).

The species is distributed mainly in the northern Western Ghats but has been reported from the Nilgiris. The cached account gives no measurements, diet or breeding information. SoIB 2023 treats it as a Western Ghats endemic and rates it a Low conservation priority, a resident of non-specialised habitat and an omnivore, with a Moderate range of about 74,500 km² and a stable current trend (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
