Pterorhinus galbanus
Diet
Invertebrates (SoIB guild)
Habitat
Grassy areas with bushes and trees, scrub and forest
Range
Patkai mountain range
The yellow-throated laughingthrush is found in grassy areas with bushes and trees, scrub and forest in the Patkai mountain range. Until recently it included the blue-crowned laughingthrush as a subspecies, but unlike that species the crown of the yellow-throated laughingthrush is pale grey rather than bluish. It was formerly placed in Garrulax but moved to the resurrected genus Pterorhinus after a 2018 study (Wikipedia, general species account).
The cached account gives no measurements, diet or breeding information. SoIB 2023 treats it as an Eastern Himalayan endemic and rates it a Moderate conservation priority, a resident forest bird with a Restricted range of about 13,400 km² and insufficient data on trends (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
