The ashy wood pigeon is a pigeon of temperate forests of south-eastern Asia, with a wide range that includes Nepal, Bhutan, northern India, southern Tibet, southern China, northern Laos, Myanmar, northern Thailand and Taiwan. The world population is unknown, though the Taiwan population is estimated at 10,000–100,000 breeding pairs (Wikipedia, general species account).
Clutches usually consist of a single white egg, though two-egg clutches have been recorded. The eggs are incubated for about 21–23 days and young fledge at about 28 days. SoIB 2023 treats it as a resident and altitudinal migrant of forest that eats fruit and nectar, rates it a Moderate conservation priority, and gives a Restricted range of about 21,000 km² (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
