The black-eared shrike-babbler is a bird of the vireo family Vireonidae, traditionally considered an aberrant Old World babbler and formerly placed in the Timaliidae. It was long noted that its habits resembled those of vireos, though this was previously ascribed to convergent evolution. It is found in Southeast Asia from the Himalaya to western Malaysia, in subtropical or tropical moist montane forest (Wikipedia, general species account).
The cached account gives no description, measurements, diet or breeding information. SoIB 2023 rates it a Low conservation priority, a resident and altitudinal migrant forest bird that eats invertebrates, with a Moderate range of about 48,800 km² and insufficient data on the long-term trend (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
