Nilssonia formosa
Range
Myanmar and possibly Thailand; reported from Karbi Anglong district, Assam
The Burmese peacock softshell is a softshell turtle of the family Trionychidae and one of five species in the genus Nilssonia. It is found in Myanmar and possibly Thailand, and is also reported from the Karbi Anglong district of Assam (Wikipedia, general species account).
The Reptile Database lists it from the Irrawaddy, Sittang and Salween rivers of Myanmar, Yunnan in China, and India. Nuclear data from an animal caught near Shuangbai in Yunnan suggest the species crossed the watershed between the Salween and Mekong rivers. The Indian record is thinly sourced here.
