Indotestudo elongata
Range
North-eastern India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and south-east Asia to south China (Yunnan)
Size
About 30cm
Weight
About 3.5kg
The elongated tortoise is found in South-east Asia and parts of South Asia. Typical adults are around 30 cm long and 3.5 kg. The carapace and plastron are greenish yellow, each shield with an irregular black spot or blotch that may occupy most of the shield or be broken up or indistinct. The shell is depressed, more than twice as long as deep, and males have a much longer tail than females (Wikipedia, general species account).
In India it has been recorded from Tripura, Jalpaiguri and the Singhbhum region, with the Reptile Database also listing Assam; it also occurs in Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, western Malaysia and Yunnan. The account used here says little about its diet or behaviour.
