The Malabar tree toad (Pedostibes tuberculosus), or warty Asian tree toad, is found in the forests of the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu at elevations from 250 m to over 1,000 m, often beside streams. It is a small toad, growing to 3.6-3.85 cm, found in wet tree hollows or leaf bases that hold water. It lives in trees, though adults are found among leaf litter and climb into trees at night (Wikipedia, general species account).

The snout is pointed and the lores vertical, and the ear opening is well marked, about a third of the diameter of the eye. The call is described as "shirrrr shirr shirr shirr", with a dominant frequency of 3,780 Hz, each call lasting 3 to 7 seconds with three to 10 pulses. Young appear when the monsoon rains start. Scientists believe it eats plants from the bottoms of streams but have not directly seen its diet (Wikipedia, general species account).
