Bufotes latastii, the Baltistan toad, Ladakh toad or vertebral-banded toad, is found in the West Himalaya at altitudes of 780-3,200 m, from northern Pakistan to Ladakh in India. Reports from elsewhere are the result of misidentifying other species. It lives in alpine forests, coniferous forests, grasslands, paddy fields, mountain desert and roadsides (Wikipedia, general species account).
Adults have a snout-vent length of about 4.5-6.2 cm. The crown has no bony ridges, the snout is short and blunt, the space between the eyes is narrower than the upper eyelid, and the tympanum is very distinct, half the diameter of the eye. It can be beneficial to people because it feeds on insects and their larvae in farmed areas (Wikipedia, general species account).
