The pink-browed rosefinch is a finch of the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent, mainly the Himalaya, in Bhutan, China, India, Nepal and Pakistan. It is a slender bird with a pointed beak, an indented tail and black eyes; the male is a bright raspberry colour with an eyestripe and browed facial pattern and a darker grey back of the neck and head, while females are brown with streaked buffy underparts, broad white eyebrows and lightly streaked pale cheeks and throat (Wikipedia, general species account).
Its habitats include forests, shrublands, grasslands and artificial environments, and breeding occurs from July to August; the female builds the nest and incubates the four or five eggs, and the song comes from the top of shrubs or low trees. The generation length is 4.1 years and the population trend is stable. SoIB 2023 treats it as a Himalayan endemic and rates it a Low conservation priority, a resident and altitudinal migrant with a Moderate range of about 98,900 km² (Wikipedia, general species account; SoIB 2023).
