Uperodon assamensis

Basic stats

Range

Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and West Bengal, north-east India (possibly southern Bhutan)

The Assamese balloon frog, Uperodon assamensis (also listed as Kaloula assamensis), is a narrow-mouthed frog of the family Microhylidae described in 2005 by Das, Sengupta, Ahmed and Dutta. Until then it had been treated as a variant of the painted frog or the Sri Lankan species, and it was split off on a type from Assam. It has a yellowish stripe down the middle of the back, no visible eardrum, and a clear fold above the ear. (Wikipedia and a 2025 Bangladesh record).

Recorded sites include Sonitpur district and Nameri and Orang National Parks in Assam, Bongaigaon in western Assam, Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary in Arunachal Pradesh, and the Chilapata range in West Bengal. It may also occur in southern Bhutan. (Wikipedia).
